SafeSend

TKG Tax & Accounting uses an electronic delivery system for tax returns called SafeSend Returns. SafeSend Returns allows clients to review their tax return and sign their e-file authorization form(s) online. Then, SafeSend Returns automatically and securely sends the form(s) back to TKG Tax & Accounting.

The SafeSend Gather platform is accessed solely through your email address, eliminating the need to navigate cumbersome client portals or remember multiple passwords.

Your initial Gather request will be sent directly to the email address we have on file for you. The subject line of the email will read, “Action Required: Please Complete Your GatherRequest for TKG Tax and Accounting” By clicking on the “Let’s Get Started” button, you will be directed to TKG Tax and Accounting’s landing page to complete your Gather Request.

On the left side of TKG Tax & Accounting’s landing page, you will find three clearly defined action items that need to be completed, as detailed in the section below. These tasks areoutlined separately to ensure clarity and ease of reference.

Once on the landing page, we require you to click “Get Started” to sign your engagement letter and complete your mandatory questionnaire as promptly as possible to avoid unnecessary delaysin the preparation of your tax return. The submission of your tax documents can be done subsequently.

Sign Documents

The first action item is to electronically sign your annual tax return engagement letter. Please note: we are required by our insurance carrier to obtain a signed engagement letter before initiatingthe preparation process. For married filers, you will be prompted to send this to your spouse for their signature. A copy of your signed engagement letter will be emailed to you once the signatureprocess is complete

Answer Questionnaire

After signing your engagement letter, you will be automatically directed to the second action item to complete the mandatory annual tax organizer questionnaire. We are required by ourprofessional standards and IRS regulations to ask these questions as part of our due diligence in preparing your income tax return.

Upload Documents

After completing your tax questionnaire, you will be automatically directed to the third action item, the Upload Documents page. Using your previous year’s income tax return as a reference, a documentrequest list will be provided. This list will outline the historical tax documents we need to gather toprepare your current year’s tax return.

In the event that you do not have all of your documentation ready, you can”Save & Close”and returnlater to upload your documents. When you upload your documents, Gather Upload will recognize yourdocuments and check them off for you. In the event a requested document is no longer applicable, simply click the”NA”button next to the document name to mark it not applicable. Once your upload iscomplete, click”Finish”to submit your documents.

As technology advances, electronic upload is our preferred method of tax document submission. However,if you wish to mail or drop-off your tax documents to our office, we ask that you mark one of the requestedfiles on the document request section by clicking the red”NA”and click”Finish”. Our office will be notifiedthat you have not uploaded any documentation and we will awaitthe delivery of your tax documents.

Here’s How It Works

  1. Once your tax return is ready, TKG Tax and Accounting will send you an email using the sender address of either noreply@safesendreturns.com or noreply@safesend.com. Please add these addresses to your safe senders list.
  2. The email will contain a safe link for you to access your tax return.
  3. After clicking on the link, you’ll be asked to enter the last four digits of your Social Security number to review your return.
  4. SafeSend will then email you an access code to further verify your identity. Check your spam or junk folders if you don’t see it in your inbox. You must enter the code within 20 minutes of receipt. If you don’t enter the code within 20 minutes, you can request another.
  5. 1040 Returns – When you’re ready to sign your e-file authorization form(s), you’ll be asked three simple questions to verify your identity (1040 clients only).
  6. 1041 and 1065/1120 Returns – If your tax return includes K-1s to be distributed, you will see the option to email K-1s to the appropriate recipients by entering their email addresses.

  1. If both spouses have an email address, one spouse will receive an email with a link to view the return and sign the e-file authorization form(s). That spouse will also receive a link with identity verification questions specific to him/her. He or she will sign the e-file authorization form(s) and input the other spouse’s email address, which will send an email link to the second spouse, enabling the second spouse to view the return, answer identity verification questions specific to him or her and also sign the e-file authorization form(s).
  2. If a couple shares an email address, the primary signer will first receive a link with identity verification questions specific to him/her. After the primary signer signs the e-file authorization form(s), he/she can then enter the shared email address again.
